Despite most of our trade moving by sea, and the World becoming ever more dangerous, we aren't really independent when it comes to shipping.

I was born within sight of the sea, I even started my insurance career watching in awe as giant merchant fleets were insured in Lloyd's of London.

But since I was young, I've felt sad that our country has lost its historic connection with the sea. We aren't inspired by its plenty or adventures. Despite most of our trade moving by sea, and the World becoming ever more dangerous, we aren't really independent when it comes to shipping.
